Retail sales at all snowboard specialty stores and chains were up 1.7 percent over last year for the August-October period. In dollars, that translates to $297 million in sales so far this year compared to $292 million in 1999 and $275 million in 1998.

Equipment sales were up .03 percent with alpine up .03 percent and snowboard equipment rose six percent. Nordic equipment fell 47 percent.
