KETCHUM, Idaho, January 22, 2003 – Smith Sport Optics has hit the road with a four wheel drive Lincoln Town Car limo and 37 foot Ford F650 Custom Hauler that will attend snow and motocross events, respectively, throughout the country.
The Smith Limo was previously seen touring snow events last year as a stock 1984 Lincoln Town Car limo with a grind rail from stem to stern for freestyle tricks. In its first year on the scene, the Smith Limo made a dramatic impact and received a wide range of exposure, including editorial features, ads and videos, but is poised to make an even greater impression in its new form.
After a retrofit this fall from Off-Road Engineering in North Salt Lake, Utah, the Smith Limo has been transformed to feature a 460cid Ford big block V8 engine with more than 300 horsepower; Ford F350 suspension with custom traction shocks and Skyjacker 7000 shocks; 18 x 10 aluminum wheels with 35 x 12.5 BF Goodrich mud terrain radial tires; and Gator Guard II protective coating.
The Smith Limo has already been to the Utah Winter Games in The Canyons, Utah and will travel to a wide range of upcoming snow events including the Snowsports Industries America (SIA) trade show in Las Vegas, Winter X Games in Aspen, Colo., US Freeskiing Open in Vail, Colo. and US Snowboarding Open in Stratton, Vt. Promotional activities will include Smith team rider appearances, rail jams and product giveaways. Upcoming contest info and a complete Smith Limo schedule will be posted soon at www.smithsport.com . Check back often for updates.
Meanwhile, the Smith Moto Hauler, a 37-foot custom rig with Cummins Turbo Diesel engine and Ford F650 chassis, will be on site at all Supercross and Motocross nationals as well as selected amateur and invitational events.
The Smith Moto Hauler serves a range of on-site functions, from marketing to mechanical. The rig features a hydraulic side slideout with fully functional living quarters. Highlights include a full bath; kitchen with microwave and convection oven, refrigerator/freezer; TV equipped with VCR and Playstation 2 (of course); all leather furniture; and custom flooring.
A workshop in the rear is outfitted with self-locking, powder coated cabinetry; stainless work surfaces; polished diamond plate flooring; and hydraulic lift gate. Other features include rear spot lights, a 20-foot side awning and diesel generator.
Look for the Smith Moto Hauler at a Supercross or Motocross stop near you soon.
