Ski Merchandising Corporation (SMC), the specialty ski and snowboard shop buying group, and Retailers of the Outdoor Industry, Inc. (ROI), buying group of specialty outdoor retailers, have announced a strategic alliance. This synergy allows each organization’s members to take advantage of the combined programs and services of both SMC and ROI.

“It’s a good match,” says Tom Gately, Managing Director of SMC. “ROI has some of the finest retailers in the outdoor industry. They have the same specialty-store entrepreneurial mindset as our stores with a heavy emphasis on quality, service and expert advice.”

He added, “Many SMC stores have expanded into the outdoor business and should be able to take advantage of ROI’s programs.”

Both SMC and ROI will maintain their separate identities, ordering and credit policies and procedures. However, each group will be invited to the other’s shows and meetings.
