LAS VEGAS, Nev. (October 10, 2002) — In a unanimous decision at their meeting yesterday, the SIA Board of Directors reaffirmed the position of its national show as the kick-off for the snow sports industry’s buy/sell cycle. The board overwhelmingly voted to continue with a late January date for 2004 and beyond. The show will take place the last week of January in 2004 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
“The ‘See It, Try It, Buy It’ concept is working”, said Hugh Harley, SIA board chairman and president of Rossignol. “The January show timing creates the most efficient buy/sell cycle for retailers and suppliers. The best way to accomplish the goal of efficiency is to have SIA as the national kick-off show followed by on-snow demos and regional writing shows.”
“We reviewed a lot of information that has come to our attention in the past few months,” said Harley. “The decision to continue in January guarantees that the entire snow sports industry will stay together at a single show in one location. The SIA board represents all aspects of our industry. This decision allows us to focus on the execution of our exciting plans for the 2003 SIA SnowSports Show. We are well on our way.”
