Wide Range of Winter Sports Experience Will Focus on Building SIA Show and Marketing Programs

MCLEAN, Va. (November 13, 2002) —Scott Mellin, a winter sports sales and marketing professional who gained experience at Kneissl, Marker, Nordica and Raichle, has been tapped by SnowSports Industries America (SIA) as its new director of sales and marketing. Mellin’s appointment was announced by David Ingemie, SIA president, and became effective November 4th.

Mellin will be responsible for overall marketing and sales strategies for the association and the 2004 SIA Show and beyond as well as working closely with public relations and communication efforts. Additionally, he will work with the staff to implement the 2003 SIA Vegas trade show at Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Jan. 27-30, 2003. Mary Jo Tarallo, who held interim marketing duties, will now assume the role of director of public relations and communications.

The 37-year-old Colorado native is the former CEO of KDR, Inc. in Denver, the distribution subsidiary of Kneissl, DeeLuxe and Raichle brands. His prior stints included vice president of sales and marketing and director of winter sports for Nordica USA and sales and marketing positions at DNR Sportsystem and Marker USA.

“Scott has an impressive winter sports background,” said SIA’s Ingemie. “His intimate knowledge of the industry and the challenges facing winter sports retailers is an asset to our organization.” Adds Mellin, “I’m looking forward to joining the SIA team. I believe my experience in the industry as a sales rep., product manager, marketing director and CEO will add to SIA’s strengths in producing trade shows, programs and services.”

Mellin attended the University of Colorado and is an avid cyclist, skier, and snowboarder. A former resident of Littleton, Colo., Mellin will reside in Northern Virginia with his wife and two children.
