Lease agreement with American Skiing Company gives RSN control of operations, content
PORTLAND, Maine (Aug. 28, 2000) — RSN, the essential omnimedia source for the outdoor lifestyle participant, today announced a lease arrangement with the American Skiing Company which gives them operational control of four television stations in the key resort markets of Mt. Snow, Vt., Sugarbush, Vt., Killington, Vt., and Sunday River, Me.
Under the terms of the deal, RSN will provide content and programming to the resorts of Mt. Snow, Sugarbush, and Sunday River, and the stations will operate as part of the RSN Resort TV network. In Killington, RSN will provide programming and services for LPTV station W18AE (channel 18).
“Our unique experience in catering to resorts along with our growth into the operations side of resort marketing will bring a new level of information to mountain sports enthusiasts,” said Bill Burke, CEO of RSN.
The four new affiliates join RSN’s core of owned and operated television stations in North Conway, NH; Summit County, Colo.; and Lake Tahoe, Calif. With the addition of the ASC foursome, the reach of RSN TV now includes 26 affiliates covering 56 resort markets, reaching 700,000 cable subscribers in the summer and 525,000 in the winter. RSN programming surrounds local news, weather and snow reports with a wealth of unique selections including “The Resort Report” morning show; “Reel Thrills,” hosted by Glen Plake; “Extreme Scene,” a showcase of the latest action sport flicks; and “Movie Nights,” featuring selections from the Banff Mountain Film Festival as well as classic picks from the last century of outdoor filmmakers.
