PORTLAND, MAINE (June 6, 2000) – Resort Sports Network, Inc. (RSN) www.RSN.com, the source for mountain sports lifestyle information, recently named Drew Simmons as director of communications and marketing manager. Simmons will oversee internal and external communication strategies for RSN and RSN-owned properties.

Prior to joining RSN, Simmons worked at Stanwood & Partners Public Relations in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where he managed various accounts including the Outdoor Retailer Summer and Winter Market shows, and the Interbike Bicycle Expo. Simmons also brings 10 years of journalism experience to RSN, including a tenure as managing editor of the Jackson Hole Guide, one of the National Newspaper Association’s best small weeklies. His work has been published in the Denver Post, Seattle Times, Couloir Magazine and Free Snow among others.

“Drew’s experience in conveying the spirit of the outdoor lifestyle is both vast and impressive,” said Rory Strunk, RSN’s founder and chief vision officer. “He will be a great asset to the team as we continue to introduce innovative products and services.”

Last August, the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market show was struck by an f2-grade tornado in downtown Salt Lake City, injuring approximately 100 people and killing two. In the chaotic wake of the disaster, managing the resulting media frenzy during the crisis was Simmons’ biggest PR challenge to date.

“RSN’s vision of creating a network that educates, inspires and celebrates the outdoor enthusiast is one that I truly believe in,” said Simmons. “The chance to be part of the RSN team and to work closely with Founder and Chief Vision Officer Rory Strunk and CEO Bill Burke was one that I couldn’t pass up.”

Headquartered in Portland, Maine, RSN is a privately held, 14-year young company committed to feeding the passion for lifestyle sports by providing customized information, quality entertainment and tailored e-commerce opportunities through a national-, metro- and resort-based distribution network.

RSN’s unique, omni-media offerings include the RSN cable television network, Nielsen’s No. 1 rated daily programming in more than 56 resort areas; RSN.com, rated the No. 1 winter sports web site by Media Metrix in January 2000; and RSN.comTV, a convergence of web and television programming appearing daily in major metro markets on CNN Headline News, The Weather Channel, and other cable outlets.
