Huntington Beach, California, January 7, 2003 (NYSE:ZQK) – Quiksilver is proud to announce a bright future with two of the most innovative and talented snowboarders in the industry, Danny Kass and Kyle Clancy. Clancy joins the Quiksilver Snowboard Team as a brand new rider and has committed for the next three years at a minimum. Kass, a Quiksilver team veteran, extended his commitment for an additional two years.
Danny Kass, 20, from New Jersey, began his career with Quiksilver as a rep-rider six years ago and quickly made his way onto the pro team the following year. An Olympic silver medallist and reigning two-time US Open half pipe champion, Kass’s involvement in the Snowboarding industry extends beyond his role as professional athlete to entrepreneur. Now based in Mammoth Mountain, California, Kass and brother Matt are partners in Grenade Gloves which released its firstsnowboarding video, Full Medal Edges, in Fall 2002. Quiksilver proudly supports Danny Kass’s ongoing contributions to the growth of the sport and lifestyle of Snowboarding.
“I’m really stoked to continue working with Danny, not just because of his riding ability but, because of who he really is. Danny and the crew he runs with personify what Snowboarding is today and what it should be always…fun and unrestrained. He is one of the few laying new tracks in the sport, and we’re fortunate that Quiksilver has the opportunity to support that,” said Brian Craighill, Snowboard Team Manager, Quiksilver.
Kyle Clancy, 21, from Vermont, began to turn heads about five years ago and has proven to be one of the top up and coming riders in the sport. Over the years, Kyle has starred in many snowboarding films including the Kass brothers production, “Full Medal Edges, “Pulse” by Mackdog Productions and “Road to Maddness” by Straight Jacket Productions.
“We are excited to have Clancy on the team because he is a committed and talented rider. Kyle is one of the best all-around, stylish, rookie pro riders in the industry,” commented Craighill.
