HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sept. 25, 2002–Quiksilver (NYSE:ZQK) is pleased to announce that it has signed a lease for a new company-owned Boardriders Club on the corner of 42nd Street and 7th Avenue in Times Square, New York City.

Leasehold improvements on the 3,400 square foot store are scheduled to commence by late October and the store’s opening is slated for the beginning of April.

Bob McKnight, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer commented, “With about 30 million visitors every year, Times Square is one of the world’s preeminent retail locations. The store front will incorporate illuminated signage and a large video screen to showcase our incredible visual content. The high-energy, entertainment orientation of Quiksilver’s boardriding lifestyle is a great fit with the rejuvenated Times Square retail environment.”

The Times Square store will be Quiksilver’s 43rd company-owned Boardriders Club, including 24 in Europe. With licensed stores, there are 250 Quiksilver Boardriders Clubs worldwide.

Bernard Mariette, Quiksilver’s President, added, “Given that much of the traffic in Times Square is made up of tourists from around the world, this store is an important addition to the global branding and retail strategy that we began in 1998 with our Boardriders Club on the Champs Elysees. Based on the great success we’ve had in our SoHo location in New York, we believe that this new store will serve as another powerful platform for our brand message. Additionally, we expect superior sales productivity from the store and believe it will not only give us great presence, but will also prove to be a strong financial project.”
