HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, (NYSE:ZQK) Quiksilver announced the opening of a new Boardriders Club store in Seattle and in-store appearance by Tony Hawk, the world’s most famous skateboarder and Quiksilver sponsored skater.
The new Boardriders Club store in Seattle is located at 409 Pike Street, and boasts 3500 square feet of retail space which includes Quiksilver, Roxy, Hawk clothing and surf, skate, and snow hardgoods. “Our Seattle store is the seventh company owned store we have opened in the U.S. this year and marks the beginning of a new retail presence for Quiksilver, says Gregg Solomon, vice-president Quiksilver retail.
At noon on September 16, 2000, Tony Hawk and the Quiksilver skate team will perform a skate demo at Seattle Skate Park (at 5th and Republican) which will be open to the public. Later that evening, one hundred lucky raffle winners will head to the store to hang out with Tony Hawk for an hour, get his autograph and receive a 25% discount on anything in the store excluding hardgoods. The store, which opened on July 16, 2000, is currently conducting the raffle.
Currently, there are 24 Quiksilver Boardriders Clubs in the United States. Quiksilver recently opened stores in South Beach, Hollywood, Charleston, Boston, and South Coast Plaza. The first Quiksilver Boardriders Club store mall location and Tony Hawk Concept store will open in late November 2000 in Garden State Plaza, New Jersey.
