WHISTLER, Canada , January 22, 2003 – Prior Snowboards of Whistler British Columbia has announced the addition of Canadian snowboarding veteran Allan Clark to its Pro Team. Clark now uses the Prior All Mountain Freestyle board for all his riding in the pipe and the backcountry.

“We’re really happy to be working with Allan on the continual development of the All Mountain Freestyle board,” says Chris Prior, company founder. “The research and development of our boards never ends, even after the model hits the sales floor. Allan’s years of experience riding in the backcountry and in the park will provide us with invaluable feedback to ensure the All Mountain Freestyle remains the best it can be.”

Clark first started snowboarding 14 years ago when the sport first began to emerge. He was instantly hooked and started competing in pipe events locally in his home province of Alberta. In the early 90s Sims Snowboards sponsored him, which helped launch a successful career that would span the next decade. After a number of years on the World Cup circuit, and making it to the ’98 Olympic Games in Nagano as an alternate, Clark decided to move away from the structure of international competition and started working in films.

“My passion now is less about competing and more about making films, showcasing the type of riding that I’m best at… some pipe and lots of powder,” says Clark. “The Prior All Mountain Freestyle board is the best board I’ve ever ridden on – I tweaked it myself with Chris Prior to meet my own specifications and it’s rock solid in the park, the pipe and the steeps.”

Clark first rode a Prior board back in his early days of riding when he required something stronger than what his sponsors at that time could provide. He gravitated back to Prior almost 10 years later in order to work with a small, core company whose boards are made by riders themselves.

“It’s really important to me that Prior Snowboards is a small, Canadian company with a lot of soul,” says Clark. “Unlike some of the big companies these days, the Prior guys are out there snowboarding and testing the products themselves, and are deeply in tune with the sport. I hope to work with Prior for a long time to come as the opportunity to really affect change and contribute to the making of a better board is real.”

Prior has also recently added rider Matt Domanski to the All Mountain Freestyle Pro Team. “The All Mountain Freestyle board suits all my needs both in the park and out in the backcountry on steeps and in powder,” says Domanski. “My work these days is centred around magazine and video shoots and so I need an all-round board to work for me in all situations. I’d heard that Prior made great race boards and so thought I should try them out to see what they could do for me. I’ve been riding Prior ever since.”

Prior Snowboards has been making handcrafted snowboards since1990. The company offers an extensive line of premium high-performance and custom boards to suit all riding styles and preferences. All Prior snowboards are handcrafted at the Prior factory in Whistler, Canada, where the company has access to its team of local pro riders who provide comprehensive testing, research and development for the snowboard line.
