Park City, Utah – Park City Mountain Resort has appointed Julie Hopkins to the position of director of marketing. “I’m thrilled to join the team at Park City Mountain Resort, especially considering the momentum the resort has gained since the successes of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games,” Hopkins said. “The resort has proven itself as a world-class resort and I look forward to be part of its future success.”
Hopkins brings almost 20 years of experience in all aspects of marketing, most recently as director of direct marketing and advertising for The Sharper Image based in San Francisco, California. There, she has been responsible for developing and managing all marketing and advertising strategies to generate revenue and build brand recognition. Also, she managed a team responsible for database management, including all analyses, data mining and customer loyalty initiatives. Prior to her work at The Sharper Image, she acted as director of catalog for Franklin Covey. There, her duties included implementing market research and processes to better understand customer and prospect purchasing behavior and built prospecting strategy, including merchandise, mailing lists and corporate messages.
Hopkins is a graduate of Brigham Young University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations and Advertising, followed by her earning a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Utah. She has also proven a commitment to community activities as she has represented organizations such as Catalog and eCommerce Club of Northern California, Symphonix – San Francisco Symphony, Ballet West, Helping Hands of Haiti, Utah Youth Village, Habitat for Humanity – Utah Chapter, Salt Lake Art Center Guild and Junior League of Salt Lake City.
“Julie was selected from a pool of nearly 400 interested people; one of the most qualified and talented group of people I have seen in my years of hiring people, ” says Vern Greco, president and general manager of Park City Mountain Resort. “We were committed to finding a person with substantive experience and a winning track record at implementing tactics outside of conventional wisdom in the ski industry. The challenge of balancing marketing expenses with measurable returns is one of our top priorities. Julie has been given the charge to re-tool the marketing plan and resources to better speak to the diverse customer segments we have.”
In her new position, Hopkins will have complete oversight of the marketing and sales departments and be responsible for developing and executing the strategic marketing plan. She will assume her new position on November 11, 2002.
