Learn to Ski and Snowboard Centers Come to the Cities to Join SnowSports Expos Olympic Winners’ Salute
The popular annual BEWI SnowSports Expos are lining up a dream team of Olympic skiers and snowboarders this Fall for a continuing celebration of their Olympic medal-winning performances. There will be presentations by the Olympic medallists who wowed the fans at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games and the hot young stars of the 2002 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colo.
SnowSports Expo serves as a kick-off to the winter season in Seattle (Oct. 25-27); Denver (Nov. 1-3); Portland, Ore. (Nov.1-3); Hartford (Nov. 8-10); Boston (Nov. 14-17); and San Jose (Nov. 22-24). Total projected attendance is 160,000.
These personable Olympic athletes love their sport and take special interest in getting others to give it a try. They think everyone should have an opportunity to get on a pair of skis or snowboard, get instruction and get into the fun of winter. Their enthusiasm and encouragement will help others get started on the right path to learning a new winter sport.
Each SnowSports Expo will host a Learn to Ski and Snowboard Center to help new skiers or riders before they head to the slopes next winter. The Center will showcase instructional tips from teaching pros, equipment and winter wear specialists, video theaters and informative literature, bringing the mountains to the city to help make those first steps on the slopes easier than ever.
“The wonderful talent and personalities of our Olympic snow athletes is inspiring to those just starting out. We who love snowsports want to share that lifestyle with others who don’t yet know what it’s all about. By bringing the information and professional advice right to the cities, we know we can help others get started on a lifetime of fun,” says SnowSport Expo producer Bernie Weichsel, a life-long skier who grew up in New York City and now lives outside of Boston.
Each of Weichsel’s SnowSport Expos is a colorful circus of live demonstrations, performances, action-packed contests for skateboarders, video walls and informative displays featuring ski resorts, ski travel planners, equipment and clothing specialists, and a host of special events. Some of the winter season’s best travel buys will be available right at the shows, including vacation packages.
The Expos feature a local key retailer with an on-site sale of winter equipment and accessories. Savvy shoppers now know to wait for their local SnowSports Expo to gear up for winter. Information on Olympic VIP appearances and a full schedule of SnowSport Expo events will be posted at www.OnTheSnow.com.
