LAKEWOOD, Colo., January 20, 2000 — The National Ski Areas Association announced it will introduce the first NSAA Sales and Marketing Awards for the 1999 – 2000 season. The awards, sponsored by Resort Sports Network (RSN), have been created to recognize outstanding marketing programs for resort operators in the industry.
“It is our hope to raise the tide of quality sales and marketing programs throughout our industry by recognizing the best practices our industry has to offer,” said David Barry, Copper Mountain’s COO and chair of the NSAA Marketing Committee. “The days of celebrating the look of the ad are long dead.”
These awards are intended to celebrate programs that are innovative, progressive and most of all, effective in bringing more people to the slopes. Judges for the awards will comprise of marketing and advertising professionals from outside and within the ski industry. Judges will review the programs and select winners in each of the following categories:
Best Program to Grow the Sport to New Participants Best Public Relations or Community Relations Campaign Best Program to Increase Frequency of Existing ParticipantsBest Sales and Promotion Campaign Using the Internet
An award will be given for each of the above categories based on size. Resort size classifications are as follows: 500,000 plus skier visits, 250,000 – 500,000 skier visits, 100,000 – 250,000 skier visits, 0 – 100, 000 skier visits
