Distributors get busy Iceland style
(July 2003) Nikita Clothing wrapped up it’s first International Sales Meeting this past May at the company headquarters in Reykjavik, Iceland. 25 representatives from 13 of the 28 countries Nikita is distributed in enjoyed a week of Icelandic hospitality including skating, (sorry…no more snow) sightseeing, eating, drinking, and a short sales meeting too! Among those in attendance were Deep Distribution’s Jen McVey and Jenny Jedd, from the U.S.
“It was the most unforgettable experience of my life,” said Jedd, the customer service rep for Deep. “We rode all sorts of things: horses, rafts, bikes, skateboards (of course). They rented us a tour bus so we could check out the hot springs, waterfalls, and plate tectonic gaps separating North America from Europe. We even got to have a sales meeting at the Blue Lagoon! We checked out the two story Nikita office in downtown Reykjavik where it all goes down and the last night we were they hosted a private dinner/dance at a friends art studio. There wasn’t one minute when we were not doing something. And with all of this going down I still only managed 4 hours of sleep per night!”
The decision to hold the meeting came after doubling sales from last year and 3 steady years of building Nikita to be one of the favorite brands for girls who snowboard, surf and skate worldwide. Nikita’s CEO and designer, Heida Birgisdottir, decided it was time for everyone to meet up and come find out all that is behind Nikita clothing.
“It was time to bring everyone together so we could all see what was making Nikita so successful. We wanted everyone to come join us to build trust and friendship and to mix business with pleasure. Since we make street clothing for girls who ride, sideways research and development is also very important! In the end, I think it was a huge success and we are all stoked on the future of Nikita”
Nikita is designed in Iceland by snowboarder, skater, surfer Heida Birgisdottir. Nikita’s professional snowboard team includes Natasza Zurek, Minna Hesso, Keiko Yanagaswa, and Cristel Thorensen, as well as U.S. skateboarder Mimi Knoop.
