Mount Snow announced Sharon Bay as its new director of marketing and merchandising. Her responsibilities include marketing and merchandising all resort programs and overseeing events such as the ESPN Winter X-Games and the resort sign shop. Chris Bluto, a Mount Snow employee of twelve years, has been promoted to resort alternative sports and X-Games manager. Bluto will now manage resort marketing and product implementation of snowboarding, freeskiing, and skiboarding, along with other emerging resort sports. This will coincide with his dual role in coordinating Mount Snow’s involvement with ESPN to host the 2000 Winter X-Games.

Rip Curl has announced the addition of Timo Aho from Finland to its team.

Dionne Delasalle has recently signed a deal with DROP gloves.

Dave Jones is the Silence and Avalanche salesman for Southern California, Southern Nevada, and Arizona. Matt Long and Joey Losson have taken on the A Sport salesman package for the Southeast, which includes Silence and Avalanche snowboards, Neptune wakeboards, and Straight Line ropes. Mike Kennedy is the new Silence and Avalanche rep for the Rocky Mountain territory. Bruce Caslowitz is now responsible for the Eastern and New England Territories.

Ride is welcoming the addition of Norwegian National Team member Arild Brun Kjeldaas to its family. Also new to Ride is Gabe Goldman as designer, Kelly Gritzmacher as Southeast customer service rep, Elly Carroll as the new warranty/returns supervisor. Position changes include Mike Friedman as the new traffic supervisor, Chris Mayes as customer-service rep for the Rockies, and Tagen Jury as shipping supervisor

Elan Snowboards has added Mike Basich to its pro team. Basich joins Jason Evans, Dylan Farr, Timo Aho, Kim Christiansen, and Alexi Vanninen.

Amy Barrett, a Burton Snowboards public-relations specialist, has recently been elected to the board of directors of Snow Sports Association for Women (SSAW), coordinators of the third annual “Take Your Daughter to the Snow Week” program.

Sims Sports, Inc. announced the appointment of Krista Larson as marketing coordinator.

Sims also announced the promotion of Angie Bunker as its new customer account specialist. Bunker will be responsible for invoicing, managing customer A/R accounts, and reconciling all accounts.

Carey Garland is Sims’ new North American customer service representative. Garland’s territory includes Ontario, the Atlantic provinces, and all states east of the Rocky Mountains.

Santa Cruz snowboards is welcoming Ryan Abernathy as snowboard sales manager. Abernathy, formally of Morrow and Sims snowboards, is leaving Montana to join the NHS team.

Shawn Sterken, a Santa Cruz snowboards pro, has signed on as the new TSG safety gear team manager.

Santa Cruz snowboards marketing is welcoming Holly Anderson, who used to work in snowboard sales and distribution. She will now be working in public relations, marketing, and public development.

HardCorps Sports announced the addition of Henri Patty as HardCorps’ new managing director for Europe. Patty will be based in Annecy, France, where the company will headquarter its European operations. Patty has been in the winter-sports industry for over twenty years.

Clive has announced the addition of Todd Richards to its team. Richards will be representing Clive and its variety of space-age backpacks, shoulder bags, travel bags, and accessories.

Quiksilver announced the addition of Derrick Appleton to its Wintersports division. Appleton, who also represents Mervin Manufacturing, will take over the Northen California and Northern Nevada territories for Quiksilver boyys, Roxy, and Teenie Wahine outerwear. Jean-Yves Pachoud, general manager of Skis Dynastar SA and President of Dynastar Inc., the United States subsidiary, is resigning his post as president of Dynastar, Inc. Pachoud has held the position since June of 1990. The company also announces the appointment of a new General Manager, Bernard Liatti.

Gen-X Equipment Inc. announced the appointment of John Collins, former vice president/general manager of Bauer/Nike Hockey Inc., as president of the company. Collins will be responsible for heading up the off-price and action-sports businesses of Gen-X. Mark Brasier, formerly vice president of sales at Ride Snowboard Company has been appointed as vice president of sales and marketing for both the off-price and action-sports divisions of Gen-X.

SnowSports Industries America (SIA) recently named Bill Clapper to fill a new position as associate director of communications and public relations. Clapper has more than twenty years of snow-sports communications experience including his creation of the associate director of communication position, which led to a shifting of Clapper’s responsibilities within SIA’s communications department. Yvonne King takes the new title of marketing communications production supervisor and is responsible for production of all SIA communications efforts.

Generator Distribution Co. Ltd., announced the appointment of Cec Annett as vice president/director of sales and marketing. Annett’s duties are described as “brand management” and will include involvement in all aspects of sales and marketing, as well as regular trips to buy the TransWorld Snowboarding Business staff lunch. He joins Generator from Airwalk, where he served as snowboarding category manager for almost five years.

Canadian halfpipe wizard Mike Michalchuk is the newest Burton team rider. The company announced that he has signed a three-year deal to ride its boards and bindings. However, he will be riding ACG apparel.

Purgatory resort announced that Paula Sublett has been named director of human resources. Sublett has been with Purgatory Resort for twenty years in a variety of positions in the accounting department, most recently as a purchasing supervisor.

Nelson Snowboards and Nelson Sports, Inc. have recently announced the addition of Jamie Van Lanen and Shawn Craddick of Lake Tahoe to its team.

SnowSports Industries America (SIA) recently added three field representatives. Named to the position of regional manager are Doug Powell, Tom Rogers, and David Wray–all of whom come to SIA from member companies. The purpose of the three field reps is to enhance relationships between SIA and its audiences.

Skis Dynastar has announced a new addition to its sales force. Cliff Sigmann will be representing Original Sin in Indiana, Lower Michigan, and Ohio.
