Vernon, NJ — The next generation of top Superpipe and Slopestyle riders will take to the air at Mountain Creek, New Jersey in the 3rd annual Specialty Sports PRO/AM Jam February 13 — 15, 2003. Competitors will get the first taste of Mountain Creek’s NEW competition Superpipe and newly expanded terrain parks.
“I think the riders will be truly challenged and thrilled with Mountain Creek’s addition of the first Superpipe south of Stratton, Vermont,’ states Bill Benneyan, Director of Marketing. “We’ve also built a new terrain park trail this year, and with a Slopestyle competition added to the schedule, we expect even more pro riders to join their friends in a weekend of all-out sessions to claim a piece of the prize purse.
The PRO/AM Jam will take place on President’s Weekend and introduces a new crowd-pleasing format to include a Slopestyle event – placing freestyle artists in the spotlight to flaunt their creative styles and abilities.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming back some of the biggest names in professional snowboarding. In the past two years we’ve had the pleasure of hosting world-class and Olympic riders such as Ross Powers, Michelle Taggart, Abe Teter and our own mountain native Danny Kass, said Charles Blier, General Manager. “We love working with the Specialty crew and relish the friendships that we’ve developed with the competitors and organizers alike. They’ve all done a great job of creating a core event truly ‘by riders for riders,’ and this echoes Mountain Creek’s commitment to progressive innovation throughout the resort.
Non-competitive riders stand to benefit from the PRO/AM at Mountain Creek this season, as they can enjoy the first Superpipe of the season, opening to the public Sunday of President’s Week for plenty of riding through the end of the season.
