Loon Mountain Opening Day 2015 – Photo Gallery

After much anticipation and some cooperative temperatures, we were finally able to lace up and put P-tex to the trails of Loon on Wednesday, November 25th. From my recollection, there’s never been a bad first day on hill, and this one served no differently as we were greeted by beers and smiles on familiar faces. It’s almost as if a community reassembles for the next sixth months, gathered to seek gratification from frozen turns and good times.
Surprisingly, crowds were thin and the loose granular snowpack kept well throughout the day. Loon appeased jibbers with an offering of steel, and the buzzards flocked to take turns scraping paint. It was fun to hop on a few rails the first day, while loosening the legs with side hits and chunda’. Capped with a few ales and some Chinese food, it was a strong start to the new season.
