Vancouver, BC ¿ The world’s top snowboarders are warming up to compete for $25,000 at the Kokanee Boardercross® North American Championships at Vancouver’s Mount Seymour this Saturday, February 24.

“It’s exciting to come home to compete in such a huge event in front of your family and friends”, says West Vancouver’s Erin Simmons, who has made one of the biggest comebacks in snowboarding this year since undergoing knee surgery last season. “PEAK has the reputation for producing high-caliber events with a strong athlete following, and Mount Seymour’s event will hold true to this.”

“Mount Seymour is extremely excited to be hosting the Kokanee Boardercross for the eighth consecutive season, and we warmly welcome both our local and international athletes to the event”, says Eddie Wood Jr., General Manager for Mount Seymour. “The snow is at its best this season, with 160cm at the bottom of the course and over 230cm up at the top.”

Since its inception in 1991, Boardercross racing has fast become the world’s premier snowboard competition. Invented and developed on the West Coast, the sport features riders racing head-to-head, six at a time, down a course laden with jumps, banked turns, whoops, rollers and more!
