K2 Snowboarding Changes Staff, Adds To Am team

Chris Parkhurst has recently signed on to be the new National Sales Manager for K2. Chris has been with K2 Snowboards for the past 5 years, most recently in the position of Operations and Services Manager at K2 Snowboarding. “It’s an incredible opportunity to work with a snowboard focused brand. People here live, breath and sleep the culture. It’s family. I’m looking forward to building on our past success and future growth.”

K2 Snowboarding would like to congratulate Marketing Director, Hayley Martin on the birth of a bouncing baby boy. Welcome to the family, little Ike!

Congratulations also go out to Fran Stoll, who was recently promoted from Graphic Designer at K2 Snowboarding to Creative Manager. Fran has already been busy hiring a new graphic designer. Jessie Federico, from Hillcrest Snowboards near Mt Hood, OR, will be filling that spot in-house.

In team rider news, Jon Kooley from Salt Lake City heads up K2 Snowboarding’s new am program. Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, 22 year-old Jon comes to the team with a strong video part in JB Deuce’s 2001 release “49th Chamber.” After viewing Jon’s outstanding video part, K2’s Team Manager, Kevin English, along with Travis Parker, called up Kooley and invited him to be a part of the K2 Team as an amateur.

“I am so stoked to have Jon be a part of the continually progressing K2 Snow Team,” said Kevin English enthusiastically. “Jon is an integral part of where this brand, its product, and its image are heading. I envision Jon being one of our star athletes within the next couple seasons. Amazing style and great technicality are the only words you can use to describe this kid.”

Jon’s recent success has caught him a bit off-guard, however. “It’s weird riding with Travis (Parker) and Wille (Yli-Luoma) and the rest of the guys on the team. I’ve looked up to them since I started snowboarding and now I’m traveling with them,” said Jon. “And after spending time with everyone in the office I’m even more stoked to be a part of K2,” continued Jon. “They actually love to ride and know how to make sick snowboards.”

See Jon’s first major video parts this fall in Kingpin Productions’ “Happy Hour” and Straight Jacket Films’ “Road to Madness” in addition to his follow up part with JB Deuce and their newest film “In for Life.”

Joining Jon on the am program are; Chris Hotell, from Truckee, CA, Preston Strout, from New Hampshire, and Deanna Combs from Salt Lake City. New to the flow program are Shaun McKay – Seattle and Shawn Hewson – Truckee.

The K2 Snowboarding family is focused – look for them to be working hard and riding hard this winter!
