Jamie Lynn’s style is so iconic his method alone could receive TransWorld SNOWboarding’s Legend Award. It’s his overall contribution to snowboarding, however, that will be honored on Friday, January 27 during the 13th Annual Riders’ Poll Awards Show at the Fillmore Auditorium.
A Brief History Of Jamie’s Influence
Jamie is often credited as the rider who completely changing what tricks looked in the early ’90s and inspiring a new generation of riders. As Jamie exploded out of Mt. Baker and into the international snowboard scene his unusually smooth spins and hard charging, skate-influenced approach became a model that many tried to copy. He was at once raw and polished, often riding gloveless, barging some of the first spins off backcountry cliffs, all while making it look so damn good. Just watch his parts in classic movies like Mack Dawg’s Upping The Ante, Standard’s TB3, and Volcom’s The Garden to see how his affect on style can still be felt almost 20 years later.
But Jamie’s talent doesn’t stop at the slopes—it extends into snowboard culture as a whole. As an artist he’s designed graphics for Volcom, Dragon, and dozens of Lib Tech decks. And as a musician his creativity finds yet another outlet through his Volcom label band Kandi Coded.
Though his fame has grown, Jamie remains a quiet guy who lets his talent do the talking. Always humble, he stayed true to the brands that backed him in his heyday, and in turn, they’ve stayed true to him years later. Today Jamie still holds it down for Lib Tech, Dragon, Vans, and Volcom, along with a newer addition, Bluebird.
Join us in celebrating Jamie’s official status as one of snowboarding’s true legends.
