Jake Blauvelt’s Naturally world premiere recap and photos

We went to Oakley World Headquarters for the world premiere of Jake Blauvelt’s Naturally. If you dislike fun, pow, and riding with your friends, then stop reading this post, because that’s what Naturally is all about. It’s about riding natural features, but it’s not like Jake set out on a mission to not build anymore, his riding just moved towards a follow-your-instinct school of thought, which is more concerned with finding good snow and cool stuff to hit than with constructing massive cheese wedges.

Blauvelt, Eric Jackson, Shayne Pospisil, Kazu Kokubo, and Freddi Kalbermatten all have shots in the movie, which includes footage from the past two years. Jake messed up his shoulder trying a frontside double cork 1080 on this natural windlip during the first year of filming with Kazu, which put him out of commission for a while, and you see his road to recovery in the movie. His first trip back is with Kazu again, and just as the hammers start to drop, out goes the shoulder. It’s at this point that you see Jake’s mindset begin to shift, he realizes that through his shoulder rehab, he’s getting dialed not just physically, but mentally too. He drops some knowledge on the importance of being outside, how it shaped him as a kid in Vermont, which speaks to one of the coolest parts of the night outside of the riding: Jake’s new foundation, The Mountain Light Project, to get kids into mountain environments and lifestyles who might not get to experience snowboarding in their daily lives.

Naturally is pretty much 35 minutes of neck deep pow: the long story short is that you have to watch it. The premiere schedule is listed below, and the full movie is dropping exclusively on TWSNOW.comOctober 14th.
