BELLEVUE, Wash. (April 28, 2003) — Helly Hansen announced today that design veteran Katie Becker will officially join the company in May as the new senior technical outerwear designer for wintersports and summer active apparel.

Becker has been a mainstay in the wintersports market since launching her career in 1989. She is leaving her current post as outerwear designer, developer and product manager at O’Neill to take on the Helly Hansen role. Becker will continue to work out of Carlsbad, Calif., though she anticipates frequent visits to Helly Hansen’s international design center near Seattle, and headquarters in Moss, Norway.

“We are turning heads with our new designs this year,” said Tobin Teichgraeber, vice president of Helly Hansen’s wintersports business unit. “Katie will make sure the look of the product and our marketing direction stays fresh and enticing to wintersports retailers and consumers who are picking up on the relevance of this brand.”
