Guelph, Ontario (November 2002) — Head Snowboards has added another world-class rider to their international team roster. Maelle Ricker 23, from Vancouver BC has signed with Head, rounding off the already outstanding Canadian team of Justin Lamoureux and Trevor Jennings.
Maelle is currently ranked (2001-2002) the ISF #1 female halfpipe rider in Canada. In addition to her Canadian standings, Maelle also totes the 10th place FIS international ranking for female halfpipe riders.
Riding since 1993, Maelle will be combining her past boardercross expertise with her successful halfpipe skills to represent Head Snowboards. “I am excited to be a part of a smaller team that gets to ride really high quality boards,” says Maelle.
Of her new gear Maelle reports, “The team series boards are really fun and responsive for all round riding…and the icon is also nice and nimble in the pipe.” As for her season goals — “Go bigger, learn more tricks, work hard with the National Team, and ride more pow.”
“Maelle is exactly the kind of rider we’re looking to sponsor,” says Beth Margolis Snowboard Product Coordinator for Head/Tyrolia Sports Canada. “She has an outstanding professional and personal reputation and is enthusiastic about growing the Head line.”
Maelle’s other sponsors include Whistler Resorts, Oakley, and Pacific Boarder.
