LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (March 10, 2003)–For the first time in the event’s history, the H2O Winter Classic will be the subject of its own 30-minute show scheduled to air March 17th at 3:30 PM (PST) on Fox Sports Net.

A recap of the 11th Annual H2O Winter Classic presented by the Element from Honda and sponsored by long-time supporter Hurley International, the show will feature highlights from the surf contest at the Huntington Beach Pier on February 8th and the slope style snowboarding competition at Mountain High Resort on February 9th. In addition, there will be footage of the pre-event concert headlined by the Scrimmage Heroes, straight off last year’s Pop Disaster Tour with Green Day and blink-182, and opened by Orange County’s Dallis.

The H2O Winter Classic gathers professionals, amateurs, and action sports industry leaders to compete in a weekend of surfing and snowboarding in their own divisions to determine who will be crowned overall board sports champion. Gabe Taylor and Ryan McConnell captured this year’s overall professional and amateur titles respectively and Jessica Oswald made H2O history by becoming the first ever H2O Winter Classic Women’s Champion.

This year’s field was among the best to compete in the H2O Winter Classic. Vying for the $20,000 prize purse were pro surfers Christian Fletcher, Bron Heusenstamm, and Kyle Knox and pro snowboarders Brian Richardson, Blaise Rosenthal, and Justin Lamoureux. The women’s division was graced by the presence of pro surfer Jodie Nelson and pro snowboarder Dresden Howell, as well as up-and-comers Jessica Oswald, Anastacia Ashley, and Allison Arvizu.

A DVD of the event that will include bonus footage, additional interviews, and music videos is slated for release in late May. The DVD will be available for purchase online at www.H2OWinterClassic.com and at specialty stores throughout Southern California.

About the H2O Winter Classic
The H2O Winter Classic presents a unique opportunity for professionals, amateurs, and action sports industry leaders to compete in a weekend of surfing and snowboarding, each in their own divisions. Vipe Desai, President of Propaganda Headquarters, Inc., began the event in 1992 when he owned the H2O Surf and Snowboard Shop in Sunset Beach, CA. The contest has since become a template for the proliferation of events that marry action sports and live music in a festival-like atmosphere.
