Greg Bretz, USA
Age: 19 (December 19, 1990)
Hometown: Mammoth Lakes, California
Board team: Forum
Recent results: A third and fourth place finish at the 2009-2010 Grand Prix Olympic qualifiers. 4th Place at 2010 X Games pipe.
Olympic outlook: Greg is an all-around rider, but he’s damn good at pipe. Greg earned his spot on the US Snowboarding team this past season after landing on the podium in the 2008 Grand Prix, World Cups, and Nationals. Last winter, Greg kind of checked out and shredded pow. This season, as a member of the US Snowboarding team, he got some coaching and put it to use this summer—he upped his game learning a double cork. He was actually one of the earliest riders to bag the double. He earned the final spot on the team just beating out Luke Mitrani and JJ Thomas. Greg is still adding tricks to his arsenal, after making the Olympic team, he went all in at the X Games linking up 1080s including his double cork and finishing with a 1260.
Potential downfalls: Greg’s young and has newfound pipe destroying power—but a few years of high-stress contest experience is always nice to have in your back pocket at a competition of this size.
Greg is a real all-around rider, check out his video part from last winter:
