Burlington, VT – Gravis Footwear, the board sports-focused shoe company owned by Burton Snowboards, recently promoted Brian Moore to General Manager. In his new role, Brian will set the strategic plan for Gravis, manage brand marketing and communication and oversee product design, development, sourcing and distribution.

Brian’s vision and extensive experience in the footwear industry has had a tremendous impact on Gravis since he started at the company in June of 2003 as the Senior Business Unit Director. In a mere six months, Brian wrote and presented a brand business plan for Gravis, restructured the product departments and re-designed much of the 2004 Gravis Footwear that will hit stores this fall.

Prior to Gravis, Brian was the Vice President of Product Marketing and Design at Saucony where he worked for nearly seven years. At Saucony, Brian’s list of achievements was long. He introduced a fashion/trail collection, which resulted in the Aura TR shoe, now Saucony’s top selling volume product. Brian then went on to launch, manage and design the Saucony Originals category, a unique line that attracted a completely new customer base to the brand. From there, he became the Vice President of Product Marketing/Design where he managed product marketing and design for all categories. As Vice President, he also created and launched Hyde Authentics, a retro inspired, boutique brown shoe brand.

Brian also worked at New Balance Athletic Shoes for three years before moving on to Saucony. There, he conceived of and managed the 800 series, including the 800 trail series, which became an industry leader in sales.

“On paper alone, Brian’s accomplishments are impressive,” says Laurent Potdevin, President of Burton Snowboards. “Having worked with Brian for over six months, I know firsthand that his instincts, passion, creativity and vision combined with his background make him the ideal leader for Gravis. As a relatively new shoe brand, Gravis Footwear will greatly benefit from Brian’s experience, successes and innovative thinking.”
