As of 1 January 2002, Swiss pro-rider and pipe rocker Gian Simmen (SUI), will be riding for the international snowboard/surf clothing brand. Gian joins one of his best friends and fellow pipe madman, Dani Costandaché (SUI), as well as freerider Gilles Voirol (SUI) within the international team European contingency.

Bernhard Ritzer, Sponsoring Manager of O’Neill Europe, felt that Simmen’s addition to the team was a very uncomplicated process, mostly because all sides concerned were very happy with the coming together of like minds.

He said, “Gian is simply one of the leading snowboarders of the last years and at the same time one of the most professional riders. He’s exactly what we need for our team.”

The 24-year old Simmen is also stoked to be a new member of the family, “I am really happy to find a new home at O’Neill. I am highly motivated for the upcoming season and am looking forward to giving positive input wherever possible.”

Gian, Dani and Gilles will be jet setting across the pond to the U.S. and Canada chasing the snow to join in filming and contests, with their American counterparts: Big Mountain Ripper and Transworld Snowboarding Business Magazine’s World Famous Exposure Meter Video Extravaganza leader Jeremy Jones, Pipe Slayer Tommy Czeschin, Northwest Hero Elan Bushell, and current X-Games Slopestyle Gold Medallist Jaime MacLoed.
