Store rebuilt after 2002 tornado to feature rock climbing wall, golf simulator, archery range and first-ever “Hall of Fame”
INDIANAPOLIS, May 14
Thousands of local consumers are expected to attend GALYAN’S grand opening celebrations starting May 14th. In-store events and demonstrations will feature celebrity appearances by several Midwest professional athletes including Indianapolis Colts’ running back Dominic Rhodes, professional bass angler Shaw Grigsby, international rock climbing champion Tori Allen, golfer and former Golf Channel host Peter Kessler, golfer Bryce Molder, Purdue University head football coach Joe Tiller, Indiana University head basketball coach Mike Davis, and Iowa University head basketball coach and member of the 1987 IU national championship basketball team Steve Alford.
“Greenwood is a vibrant, growing community, and we are pleased to be a part of the rebuilding efforts after tornados affected so many in this area,” said GALYAN’S Chairman and CEO Robert Mang. “As part of our grand opening celebration we will be donating funds to help rebuild the local YMCA,” Mang adds.
The new Greenwood store will include Galyan’s first-ever “Hall of Fame” memorabilia shop, where such items as a Babe Ruth autographed baseball can be purchased. Also featured is a new department offering expanded assortments in action sports equipment such as wakeboards, skateboards, snowboards (coming this winter), footwear and apparel.
