For those of you that aren’t aware the UK has a thriving snowboard scene, we ride all manor of surfaces but mostly Snowflex. It’s a dry matting that enables you to quench your thirst for sliding every day of the year.
The first Snowflex slope ever to be built in the USA is located at Liberty University – Virginia and we went for the Opening Session.
Looking down from the top of the slope you have 2 choices, a kicker line or a rail/box line with both of them running into a quarter pipe/wall ride at the bottom. We were kindly invited to ride the BEST dryslope in the world and bring a few Brits over to show the locals what can be achieved.
Various US dignitaries attended the opening day from State Senators to the local Mayor with some 3000 spectators watching the all the action. This had to be the biggest dryslope event of all time!

to bad its at liberty the most christian conservative college around.
November 4th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
that is kind of surprising that a place like liberty would be the first in the country to get a dryslope…at the same time it's awesome they did and that people with vastly different value sets can see how great snowboarding izzzzzz.
November 4th, 2009 at 6:47 pm
haha. do your research bud. there are a lot more conservative colleges around than Liberty.
November 4th, 2009 at 6:51 pm

dude that is sick fuck i want to go there
November 4th, 2009 at 7:07 pm
Nah, I agree with Matt. I think Bill needs to do some more research. Read about Jerry Falwell, the founder of Liberty, who was a complete f—ing nut. He called for the abolition of all public schools, as he considered them a breeding ground for atheism. He supported apartheid in South Africa. He said that AIDS is God's punishment for gay people, and that gays are responsible for 9/11. Not that that makes this ski hill any less stellar. But Liberty University is a freakshow.

Pensacola Christian College. Look up their rules and everything. They are a LOT more conservative.

absolutely, i go to school in virginia. went to see what was up at this new place, then hit up the parties afterwards. only problem was there were none…. liberty sucks, snowflex is cool
November 5th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
it's hard to get used to, you can't carve, and if you fall without your skin being covered you get mad rug burn.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
Snow Flex sucks if you carve you die. Must go flat base all the time no pre spinning. You are dead for sure if you try pre spinning. I guess snow flex is good for learning fundamental snowboarding because it seriously forces you not to pre spin. Snow flex is cool if you are jumping into a foam pit at copper and even then it is really only good for learning flips or double flips into. Seriously I could see people dieing on this material. It is great for skiing on. It does not seem to affect skiers that much.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
