If you were on the East Coast on Thursday, May 30th, you were at the launch party of the etnies Showroom in New York City.
The party started mellow around 7:00pm, and cranked up as DJ Ayres began spinning. Well over 300 people came through to see the newly created etnies showroom and take advantage of the free drinks and great music.
Situated in China Town at Broome & Bowery on the top floor of a building, the etnies Showroom has direct access to the rooftop. Our brand new rooftop deck quickly became the spot of choice. It was a beautiful night and, from one side of the roof, the Empire State Building is clearly visible. Pro skaters like Jason Dill, Scott Johnston, Chad Muska, Jerry Hsu and others showed up for the festivities.
etnies skate team members Sal Barbier and Natas even showed up and people at the party were blown away to see these two etnies legends.
The music was absolutely amazing and kept the dance floor jumping all night thanks to DJ Dirty Cuban, DJ Godschild and DJ Ayres. The New York skate scene was in full representation with heads from 5boro, Rookie, Zoo York, Supreme, Autumn, Special Sauce and more.
The media was also there in full effect. Paper, Stuff, Mass Appeal, Footwear +, Skateboarder, ESPN, TW Skate, Heckler, Fridge, Sports Illustrated, MTV, HBO, Thrasher and many more.
At one point the alcohol ran out, but that didn’t stop the party. It’s a sign of a good party when the booze runs out and people stay! We made a beer mission and were successful in claiming 500 cans of beer from a local liquor store, which got sucked up pretty quickly.
Surprisingly, the party never got out of control. Well, not too badly…It was just a bunch of people out for a good time and celebrate the opening of the etnies Showroom in NYC. Thank you to everyone who came out to the party! It was amazing. Now who’s going to help me clean this mess?
