Last week, Vermont received over 2 feet of fresh snow. Boards and boots that had been in the closet for weeks came out, with hundreds of hikers descending upon Jay Peak, Stowe, Smugglers Notch and the like. Jay was even able to re-open lift access for their passholders – still turning at week’s end.
All of this served to be perfect timing for Stowe Mountain Resort’s season-ending Super Session. Partnering with Piston Bully, they brought in over 40 of the region’s best local talent for once last hurrah. The kids showed up hungry, and the double-flip huckfest got going fast. Highlights included Tanner McCarthy’s creative tranny-finder, the train runs of Jesse Curran, Sky Gale and John Murphy, the 15 or so double corks throughout the day (are these played already…?), and the amazingly harsh slams these dirts kept putting themselves through. Aaron Blatt shot a quick gallery of the east coast finale.
