Saturday Febuary 5, 2011 Mountain High West hosted  the 13th annual Cholula Triple Air Contest. A $30,000 pool of cash was divided among top competitors. Sixteen year old Garret Warnik got first place in the Open Men’s Division taking home a whopping $10,000!  Nervana Ortanez finished first in the Open Women’s division and collected a cool $2,000.

Mountain High staff did a great job setting up three massive 60′+ kickers for riders to throw down their best tricks. Spectators crowded runs in the warm California sun to watch compedetors from all over the US compete for their chance at some cash.

Warm conditions forced riders to start above the original staging area to gain enough speed for the first jump. The three jump setup challenged riders ability to stomp tricks in sequence. Most riders saved their quality material for the final jump positioned in front of the judges table. Judges score riders based on amplitude, execution, and technical difficulty.

The event wrapped up after a fun day in the sun and winners were awarded with oversized checks and a massive bottle of Cholula hot sauce. The top 10 riders from the Men’s, and top 5 from the Women’s Open Division’s all took home checks thanks to Cholula and Monster Energy.
