Tell me about your background.
My dad’s from Egypt and my mom’s from Finland-I was born and grew up in Stockholm, Sweden.
First snowboard film that got you hyped?
The old Mack Dawg movies like Simple Pleasures and Decade. At that time in Sweden, it was all about halfpipe comps-those videos got me stoked to ride rails and jumps with my friends.
In what area do you want to progress?
Backcountry, for sure-I love everything about it and want to do it as much as possible in the future. It wasn’t easy to ride any backcountry as a kid-the closest real mountain to Stockholm is six hours away. We have a small hill with a park jump and a lot of street rails … I rode what we had.
Where did you film for THAT?
I filmed rails in Sweden and Finland for two months and then some backcountry in Oregon-and a couple park shoots at Northstar-at-Tahoe and Mammoth.
What bangers did you stomp?
There’re a few-hopefully they make it into the movie. I like this 50-50 on the double kink a couple feet from a wall. I float out toward the wall, then smack my tail and spin backside 180 out.
