Burlington, Vt., December 8, 1999 – Burton Snowboards announced todaythe appointment of Brian Silverio as Snowboard Product Manager in thehardgoods division of the company. In this position, Silverio willoversee various aspects of board production in the Burlington factory aswell as Burton’s factories in Europe and Japan.
Brian will work closely with Burton’s team of pro riders to ensure allsnowboard development remains rider driven. He will interface directlywith Burton research and development teams to manage board technologyprojects, and will be directly involved in the design, development andapplication of board graphics. Within the individual Burton factories,Brian will be responsible for maintaining quality control and overseeingwarranty issues.
Silverio was most recently Project Engineer for Matchbox at Mattel, Inc.in Mt. Laurel, NJ overseeing product development for the various brandextensions. Prior to this position, Brian was a Project Engineer forMattel in El Segundo, CA overseeing Hot Wheels and Action Figure productdevelopment. He began his professional career at Mattel in 1996 as anEngineer after serving a part-time internship with the company as anEngineer Assistant during college.
Prior to and during his early years at Mattel, Inc., Silverio was apart-time inline skate instructor for Gravity Research, Inc., the sales,marketing and promotions agency for Rollerblade where he taught inlineskating to children and adults of all abilities throughout SouthernCalifornia. Brian obtained his Professional Engineering license forMechanical Engineering in 1998. In 1995 he earned a Bachelor’s ofScience in Mechanical Engineering from California State PolytechnicUniversity, Pomona, CA.
Brian recently relocated to Burlington, VT. He enjoys surfing, inlineskating, hiking, photography and playing the drums. Brian has beensnowboarding since 1994 and among his favorite places to ride areMammoth Mountain, CA and Park City, UT. He is looking forward toenjoying the green mountains of Vermont.
