After a timely three day storm doused the Wasatch Range with feet upon feet of early November snow, the lifts at Brighton began to turn. A flood of snowboarders made their way up Big Cottonwood Canyon to get their first laps of the winter season.

It’s full blown winter up at Brighton right now.

Brighton’s own, Jared Winkler was happy to report, “50 percent of our terrain is already open, and we’ve focused our snow-making on Great western and Millicent. We’re building up snow at the lift tower bases so that once we get one more good storm we should be opening the remaining chairs.”
Opening day was better than ever with some solid options from park features to powder turns.

This year the chair was running over at Snake Creek – plenty of deep snow, poppers, slashes, and damn good times greeted the ladies and gentlemen who ventured out to this zone that is rarely cracking off this early in the season. Scott Stevens and Alex Andrews posse’d up and ripped through a solid morning of cruising Snake Creek. I’ll leave it to the photos to show just how much snow Brighton is holding – all time season opener!
