SEATTLE (January, 2003) — Black Dot®, the authentic brand of technical snowboarding apparel that delivers performance and reliability without the sticker shock, has signed Jim Moran to complete the brand’s nine-member team rider roster for the 2002/2003 season, announced Vice President of Sales Roger Bird.
Moran is a 27-year-old Connecticut native now based in Squaw Valley, who was a halfpipe finalist in the Chevy Truck Grand Prix, Vans Triple Crown and men’s U.S. Open competitions. In his 16 years of riding, Moran was also a two-time Jr. U.S. Open Halfpipe Champion as well as a finalist in the Quervo Pipe event. With a career of extensive film and broadcast exposure, Moran has been a Standard Film star and a regular rider for Fall Line Films. In addition, he has been featured on CBS, NBC, ESPN and ESPN2 television.
Moran’s focus this season will include film work and freeriding in the Northwest, as well as year-round cross-training through motorcross, skateboarding, surfing and snowmobiling. Moran currently rides for Type-A Snowboards (where he has his own pro-model board), Smith Optics, Fishpaw gloves and Six Pack Wax.
“Jim is a veteran in the industry and brings credibility to the brand with his competitive background, as well as visibility with his presence on the screen, and we are fortunate to have him join the team,” said Bird. “We are entering the season with a great roster of established, world-class athletes that make this a well-rounded team, representing Black Dot.”
Bird added that all team riders will be outfitted in Black Dot’s Pro Series collection featuring the new GORE-TEX® products for Fall 2003. The team also plays an integral role in the ongoing product wear test and line development process.
