Big Boulder Park, PA welcomed 85 of Pennsylvania’s finest amateur snowboarders this weekend. Riders showed up to navigate the park that Jon Plechavy and Ted Sadusky’s park crew designed for the 2nd stop of the 12th annual Transworld SNOWboarding TransAM event. Some unwelcome rain and lightning showed up but it was no match for Big Boulder Park and the competitors.
Billy Kiel (1st place) topped out the 40 finalists by showing his best on the Ride Snowboards hip jump, the Analog stair set, and the Anon double rail. Kevin Kacynski (2nd place) and Tyler Mengel (3rd place) turned up the heat in the last 10 minutes of finals by bringing their best combos over the High Cascade Snowboarding Camp Marshmallow and the Zumiez couch feature.
Katie Kennedy (1st place) ruled the Muscle Milk combo feature and the Big Boulder jump to secure her spot in the TransAM finals at Big Bear, CA. Not far behind, and in the hunt for top honors were Caroline Patten (2nd place) and Lauren Longfield (3rd place), both laying down some nasty moves on the Giro Jersey barriers.
Congratulations to the top three Guys and gals that qualified for the Transworld SNOWboarding TransAM Finals at Big Bear Mountain, CA on March 15, 2014. First Placers Billy Keil & Katie Kennedy walked away with flight vouchers to Finals courtesy of Zumiez, VIP treatment for the finals weekend on behalf of Transworld SNOWboarding, snowboards from Ride, and the coveted TransAM bling chain necklace trophy!
All Winners received tons of awesome product including High Cascade backpacks, Anon goggles, Analog outerwear, Giro Helmets, Zumiez gift cards, and gear from Ride Snowboards. Competitors also had a chance to win raffle prizes and were treated to a Big Boulder Park TransAM pizza party immediately after the awards ceremony.
The prestigious Muscle Milk Riders Choice Award, as voted by the competitors, went to Michael Yates who took home a loaded American Express gift card and a custom Muscle Milk backpack for his efforts.
Best Trick Award and $500 in cold hard Zumiez cash went to the seasoned TransAM veteran, AJ Lawson, for his 1 footed front 3 over the Big Boulder Park jump. Another TransAM vet, Miles Fallon, walked away with the Pint Size Ripper Award.
