Big Bear Lake, Calif., Wednesday June 11, 2003 — Big Bear Mountain Resorts (BBMR) has announced several changes within the marketing department. After 7 years working in the Snow Summit and Bear Mountain marketing departments, Bear Mountain Marketing Director, Genevieve Gunnarson has accepted a position with Booth Creek Ski Holdings at their corporate offices, located in Truckee, California. “While we will miss having Gen on our staff we wish her the best of luck in her new endeavors,” said Dick Kun, President of Snow Summit Ski Corporation.
Bear Mountain and Snow Summit will continue the consolidation of the individual marketing departments into the BBMR marketing unit. “With the departure of Genevieve, we have the opportunity to further bring the two resorts together with more positions crossing the lines between Bear Mountain and Snow Summit. With that in mind, we also understand the importance of keeping the two resort identities well defined,” stated Kun.
The individuals within the consolidated marketing department will remain at the current locations of Bear Mountain or Snow Summit and long time Snow Summit marketing director, Chris Riddle will now oversee the marketing efforts at both resorts.
BBMR Sales Director, Kim Hermon has been promoted to assistant marketing director and will be based at Bear Mountain. Hermon worked as sales manager for Bear Mountain, four years leading up to the merger of Bear Mountain and Snow Summit at which time she was promoted to sales director for both resorts. “I look forward to continuing the development of the Bear Mountain All-Mountain Park brand and working to introduce new customers to BBMR and increasing the overall market share for both resorts,” stated Hermon. Public Relations Director, Brad Farmer has been promoted and will now lead the media and industry relations effort for BBMR. Farmer worked for two years as marketing coordinator for Bear Valley Mountain Resort, located in the Central Sierra, prior to being employed as communications and public relations supervisor for Bear Mountain. With the merger of Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, Farmer was promoted to director of public relations for both resorts. “I plan to continue to build on a season of beneficial publicity and solid media relations. BBMR Customer Communications Director, Tyson Baird has been promoted and in addition to his daily communications efforts will now take a lead roll in the development of the BBMR websites with an emphasis on, delivering cutting-edge youth oriented content through the www.bearmtn.com portal. Baird worked as race director for MESP prior to joining Snow Summit as the communications director. BBMR Assistant Sales Director, Roxanne Walters has been promoted to sales director to replace Kim Hermon. Walters has worked in sales at Snow Summit for five years. “I am very pleased to have the opportunity to continue Kim’s efforts to provide the best group sales service available in the Southern California market,” said Walters.
Chris “Gunny” Gunnarson will continue as a consultant for Bear Mountain. Tina Ronning will remain as the BBMR advertising and promotions director. Mindy Clarkk will continue as the Snow Summit marketing assistant and Patty Hinkley will continue to fill the same role at Bear Mountain.
