Big Bear Lake, Calif., October 15, 2001- Big Bear Mountain Resort (Bear Mountain) is pleased to welcome the return of Genevieve Paquet-Gunnarson for 2001/02 winter season. Gunnarson has been named the director of marketing for Bear Mountain. Gunnarson replaces Greg Ralph who has relocated to Colorado to further pursue his resort management experience.

“We interviewed many talented candidates and were impressed with Genevieve’s experience in the Southern California market, as well as, her positive energy, creative ideas and work ethic,” stated Brent Tregaskis, general manager. “She brings a wealth of industry knowledge and a strong rapport with local communities, as well as, the Southern California region. We are happy to welcome her back to Bear Mountain,” added Tregaskis.

It is a coming home of sorts for Gunnarson as she was employed by Big Bear Mountain from 1990 to 1995 in a variety of responsibilities including Guest Services and Snowsports School. For the past five years, Gunnarson has played a key role in the Marketing Department at Snow Summit Mountain Resort, also located in the Big Bear area, as the Communications Director. She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Relations and Marketing at Pepperdine University and has since moved forward with her education and, in October of 2001, will receive her Masters in Business Administration Degree, MBA from the University of Redlands.

With ten years experience in the Southern California resort industry and a master’s degree in business, Gunnarson will direct Bear Mountain’s marketing strategy with the focus on increasing market share while working to make Bear Mountain the best it can be well into the future.

In addition, Brad Farmer has been hired to lead the Public & Media Relations effort for the resort.

“Brad is an excellent complement to the Bear Mountain Marketing Department. His previous resort and media experience are undoubtedly a great asset to the resort and our marketing team,” stated Genevieve Gunnarson, Director of Marketing.

Prior to joining Bear Mountain, Farmer had been the Marketing and Events Coordinator at Bear Valley Mountain Resort, located in the Central Sierra near Lake Tahoe. During this time, he worked vigorously to gain well-rounded experience in a broad area of resort business. He has also recently become a contributing writer for Transworld Media’s Snowboarding Business Magazine. In 1999, Farmer graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Marketing.

Farmer’s solid writing ability and knack for audience specific communication will enhance Bear Mountain’s ability to suit the needs of regional and national media. His solid education in marketing and quality experience in the resort business will make him a key player in Bear Mountain’s marketing strategy.
