-Winter line to also feature Atomic, Rossignol alpine ski lines, JOEYPACKAGE cancelled

HEBER CITY, Utah (Sept. 5, 2002) – BackcountryStore.com – the leadingon-line retailer of high-end specialty backcountry gear – todayannounced that they have been chosen by Burton Snowboards to be thefirst on-line dealer of Burton’s Face Split backcountry snowboard. TheBurton Face Split board is widely considered the benchmark backcountrysplit board in the industry. The addition of the Burton Split Boardcompletes BackcountryStore.com’s winter line of the most sought-afteron-snow hardware in the industry.

As well, BackcountryStore.com has added alpine lines from Rossignol andAtomic. While initially sheepish about the ability of on-line retailersto sell skis and boots, both companies had very positive experienceslast year selling their Nordic lines with BackcountryStore.com anddecided to expand their relationship with the on-line retailer.

Other new additions for winter 2002-2003 include performance clothingfrom Arc Teryx, Cloudveil and Burton snowboard clothing. “The cream ofthe crop,” said Holland.

BackcountryStore.com also announced today that they won’t be carryingany skis designed for beginner or intermediate skiers; won’t be carryingthe Bogner one-piece Alaska suite; no powder cords or anything fromNike; they have discontinued “THE JOEY PACKAGE” (rear entry ski bootswith black jeans and a Starter brand jacket – Raiders or Hornetsoptions); no goggles with windshield wipers; no furry boots; and,thankfully, they are sold out of Ski Totes.

The crew at BackcountryStore.com has also submitted a wish list to theirmanufacturing partners to bring back the classics, including the OlinMark IV, the K2 Cheeseburger ski, Rossignol Smash JR, Obermeyer paddedracing sweaters, Bone Fones, liquid-filled ski poles for boozing, theHexcel Split tail, the Salomon 727 Equipe ski binding and The Ski.
