Snowboard and ski manufacturer plans for summer expansion; calls for 60% increase in warehouse capacity

Amherst, NH (May 7, 2002) — Atomic, one of the leading manufacturers of wintersports equipment for snowboarding, alpine skiing, cross-country, and skiing, has recently announced its plan to expand its Amherst, NH facility.

The decision comes as a result of consistently increasing market share, and the need for more space to accommodate the demand on its warehouse facility, customer service department and shipping department.

The increase in square footage is a modest reflection of Atomic’s growth in sales, which have increased 28% in North America in 2001. The expansion will provide a total of 28,000 square feet of warehouse space: a 60% increase in capacity.

Jack Baltz, president of Atomic Ski USA, believes added capacity will allow the company to capitalize on its current momentum while providing better service for Atomic retailers.

“The new facility will fulfill our need for additional warehouse space while allowing our customer service to meet the expanding demands of our dealers. In the end this will enable us to inventory more product, and to continue our record for having the best shipping performance in the industry,” said Baltz.

The company plans to break ground on June 1st, and complete the addition in August.

“At the rate we’re growing it’s likely we will need additional square footage within the next three or four years, but this summer’s expansion will benefit us and our dealer base in the immediate future,” Baltz added.

Headquartered in Amherst, NH, Atomic is the dominant ski manufacturer on the World Cup Circuit, winning the menís overall title since 1995. Atomic continues to dictate the direction of modern ski manufacturing with ground breaking technical innovations and state-of-the-art core constructions like Beta Technology.
