ASM To Continue Production

March 3, 2000 – Redmond, WA – A Sport Inc. announces that it will continue operations of its ASM manufacturing facility nestled in the foothills of Mt Baker in Burlington, WA. The company will produce all of its Avalanche and Silence branded snowboards at the ASM as well as transferring winter products distribution from Redmond to the Burlington facility.

“I am pleased and very excited that the ASM factory will continue to operate”, said Tim Shuburg, General Manager of ASM. “We have structured our facility to be a lean and cost effective operation. We think of it as our “Ferrari” factory. Our greatest asset is our great team of people. Yes we do have some trick and custom equipment, but it takes dedicated people to operate them. We have a true just in time operation and the product flow is the best in the industry”.

“ASM has a long history of providing technology, flexibility, service and premium products to our OEM partners”, said Mike Gai, President and CEO of A Sport. Tim has done a great job of refocusing ASM from predominantly an OEM facility into a key asset to our own brands. ASM coupled with significant influence from our team riders and brand managers, Muareen ter Horst and Dale Rehberg, will allow Avalanche and Silence to maintain a consistent high level of quality while building more technology and innovation into our products. This combination of energy and expertise can already be seen in the 2000/2001-product lines at SIA this week”. For more information contact A Sport at 425-881-3377 or ASM at 360-757-0472.
