The Legendary Banked Slalom is a gathering of snowboarders from far reaching places who come together for a weekend of arced turns and snowboard celebrations in remote northern Washington. Lodging is non-exist up at Mt. Baker; unless you bring your own.
Camping is now permitted in the parking lot of Baker, so this year throngs of riders made the trek to the no-frills resort with their adventuremobiles in tow.
While most of our crew had lodging down in Glacier, I snagged a spot in one of the Traeger Grills RVs. The plush, weekend warrior bus, was parked in the front of the lot with immaculate views of Mt. Shuksan. It came stocked with three of Traeger’s best event employees, who spent the weekend grilling up delectable meats. It was an incredible experience to wake up in the parking lot and be able to causally walk over to the lift and get close to first chair. This allowed for easy access to shredding pow, extended afternoon apres sessions, and fostered a sense of community among the other lot dwellers. Essentially, staying in the parking lot created one of hell of an LBS experience.
Plenty of unique vehicles showed up and bunkered down for the event, so we cruised up and down the rows of rigs and snapped photos of a few of our favorites. From old school VW buses, to new and trendy truck tents, to standard Winnebagos and more, we got an eyeful of these roving homes.
