Boards

The ’99/00 line features all-new directional shapes designed for riding the entire mountain. With the help of new manufacturing techniques and material configurations, Joyride has again reduced board weight without sacrificing durability. Lower nose and tail profiles, new fiberglass/graphite weaves, steeper cap angles, and extended-length woodcores with variable flex patterns combine for increased edge hold, torsional rigidity, responsiveness, and an all-around smooth, solid ride. Joyride continues to back its snowboards with a full two-year warranty. All Joyride boards are certified Year 2000 compatible.

The ’99/00 line consists of sixteen models. All boards feature full-cap construction, high-grade multi-laminate woodcores, tri-axial fiberglass, high-density bases, and Rockwell 50 edges.

The Factory Series consists of seven models designed by its factory pro team (149, 151, 153, 154, 156, 158, and 161 cm). These boards feature extended woodcores and full-cap rails, custom graphite configurations, and graphics that reflect the individual styles of its riders. These boards offer the ultimate in aggressive/progressive riding for today’s snow shredder. The 149 and the 154 are designed specifically for women, while the 153 and 158 are designed by Finnish terror Joni Makinen. The BBC series is strictly for the big boys or the backcountry-powder missionary.

Our 165 and 170 cm models are the official boards of both the NFL and the JSA (Japanese Sumo Association). These are wider shapes that do not compromise responsiveness, performance, or manliness.

The Lite Collection (139, 144, 149, 154, and 159 cm) is an affordable line of quality boards. Lite boards offer Joyride’s progressive board design, but have the softer flexes and more forgiving shapes that a lesser-skilled rider would desire. Check the margins on these gems, with a two-year warranty!

The Grom Force series serves the little ripper in sizes 119 and 129 cm, designed for the young up-and-coming contenders.

Bindings

The Joyride Basic (JB) offers complete adjustability at a very affordable price. Look for the return of the world-famous Spindley strap and the coolest color combinations possible.

Apparel

Joyride offers logo and board-related graphics in a variety of heavyweight hooded and crew-neck sweatshirts, training jackets, sweat pants, windbreakers, hand-rail-master jockstraps, and an extensive Joyride T-shirt collection in long and short sleeves.

Accessories

Joyride continues developing innovative headwear with four new beanie styles, and two styles of baseball caps (flex fit and serge wool). Joyride offers a line of bags to fit the needs of any snowboarding journey: a heavy-duty travel board bag with wheels, a day backpack, an extended hike backpack, and the intercontinental travel duffel.

Boards

Last year’s debutante, the Electra, featured the revolutionary piezo-damping technology. In response to numerous demands for more piezo boards, K2 added the Ultima for big footers and the Futura, a narrow model, rounding out the piezo line to include Fatbob and Luna riders.

Bridging the gap for the little rippers, the Mini-Zepplin packs the punch of its role model, the Zepplin, into an aggressive freeride package for those young riders who want a high-end board, but haven’t grown into one yet.

In the all-mountain freeride category, the Luna series now boasts a 157 for women who want longer boards. Rounding out the category, K2’s added two new rides, the Valhalla and the Spitfire. All K2 boards use cap construction.

Bindings

The Clicker system begins another year stronger than ever and with even more variety. The SST, SLT, and BST come in two colors. The RNT (rental) features a tool-free stance adjustment and snow-shedding disc cap. The HB and HB Pro feature new asymmetrical baseplates for increased fit, response, and control.

Boots

This year’s new line–both Clicker and conventional–represents K2’s greatest one-year advance ever. Tons of testing and focus groups later, K2 introduces the new Direct Connect interface (outsole) that provides a direct connection between rider and board for superior response. Truefit liners hug the foot and eliminate weight. All boots feature the control-lacing system for pain-free lacing.

This year K2 debuts the Venus, a women-specific liner boot. K2 also adds an HB Clicker boot, the Firebird, in both men’s and women’s sizing and lasts.

Shimano rings in the line with dialed-in fit, extra waterproofing, and an improved lacing system. Shimano introduces a new boot for kids, the Surefire, compatible with all Clickers except for the HB and HB pro. For the HB line, Shimano, brings on the Reaper, an all-mountain liner boot.

Apparel

Last year’s outerwear debut was such a success, this year K2’s expanded the line to feature three categories: the Altitude (light, fully seam-taped, three-ply SympaTex), the Paradise (fully seam-taped, two-ply SympaTex), and the Jetstream (two-ply, waterproof-breathable, K2 Hydromatic). The line includes 75 pieces, nineteen of them women-specific.

Accessories

K2 offers four ascent options: Clicker Ascent Skis, Clicker Traverse Snowshoes, Clicker Verts Snowclimbing Shoes, and Clicker Crampons.

Also new to the line, K2’s Tour Lite Ice Axe, an ultralight necessity for glacier travel and self-arrests.

Safety first, K2 introduces two new helmets, the Automatic helmet with active front and rear venting, plus the Semi-Automatic Helmet with passive venting.

K2’s also added a wide array of tool kits, survival kits, stomp pads, and leashes. Urbanites unite–two new backpacks, the Shucker and the Jiver, represent the first in the street series.
