Boards

Airwalk's '99/00 snowboard line has grown, consisting of eight models in 33 lengths. The range includes: kids, pricepoint, Classic, and Advanced Technology. The boards are lighter and more performance oriented. The highly successful introduction of the Advanced Technology A-1 series returns with even newer composite materials, two additional lengths, and wider waist widths. Also included in the Advanced Technology Series will be a limited edition Honeycomb high-performance model. The Advanced Composite Series has won widespread praise for edge hold and dampening. The Classic woodcores feature super-lightweight woodcores, with models specifically designed for various riding abilities. Airwalk boards are team tested and ridden.

Bindings

There will be three conventional bindings in two sizes and various colors ranging from kid's to intermediate and advanced abilities. Built-in gas pedal, quick-adjust forward-lean adjuster, a variety of colors, and competitive pricing will be available.

There will be two different step-in systems–the Quad and Fast–with eight boot models and eight binding models. Bindings for both systems are available with or without highbacks and are compatible with Airwalk's integrated highback boots. They feature the unique Driver 8 system or the Airwalk Freeride boot for use with both highback bindings. The Quad is lightweight and compact.

Boots

Airwalk's boot line returns this year with several different construction's to match riders needs. The Advantage will offer a removable PU liner for both men and women. The Butte RL returns with an upgraded Thermomold liner. Offered in both men's and women's, look for a Tina Basich-designed colorway. The best-selling, legendary Freeride once again returns with a host of new comfort and performance features. Check out the Total Encapsulation Lacing System with the redesigned integrated internal harness. The Freeride RL removable liner has been upgraded to a bio-morphic sewn construction.

Apparel

The size of the snowboard clothing line increased this year by 50 percent. The collection will include men's, women's, and kids' outerwear. The program will offer three distinct collections.

Global, a new series for Airwalk, has pants starting at 79-dollars retail and jackets starting at 95-dollars retail. The series includes four jackets, two unisex pants, and kids' sizing–all constructed with 1,000 mm waterproof fabric.

The Venture series takes progressive design ideas to the next level. This feature-rich series is constructed with 10,000 mm waterproof-breathable fabrics and has all critical seams taped. Features include two-way radio pockets and Camelbak-compatible bib pants. The series consists of nine men's and seven women's garments.

The Quest series utilizes a trilaminate 20,000 mm waterproof-breathable fabric with fully taped seams. Features include removable component insulation and fully taped seams for both men and women.

For the '99/00 season we have expanded our directional freeride models to eight sizes, ranging from 150 cm to 170 cm. Included will be two wide models (158 cm and 162 cm), which will be added to our Woodie Line. All of our snowboards will continue to feature full-length wood cores, ThinCap construction technology (which tapers the cap rail off into a thinner tip and tail, reducing swing weight and response time), and a patented insert-retention plate system. The Woodie and Muñoz Lines will be made with ultra-high-molecular weight, sintered bases. The Heritage line will use a lightweight, user-friendly extruded base. Look for the next generation in Arbor's wood top-sheet technology, with our new Photofusion coating. This ultraclear coating further improves top-sheet durability and finish quality.

Accessories

Accessories for '99/00 will include a selection of four-ply nylon, Hawaiian-style wind shirts. We will also be offering short and long sleeve T-shirts in six styles, and a supporting line of caps. An early edition of our '99/00 Sales Video will be unveiled at the SIA tradeshow.

Boots

For 1999, the Arcane line includes five models of step-in boots. All models are built around the Arcane dual-density lower sole that mates with any Arcane binding using a simple step-twist-lock entry motion.

The line features major styling improvements, new closure designs to provide immediate and secure fit, and an expanded range of performance levels. The first-pricepoint Sensory model comes in at the lowest retail price ever for an Arcane-compatible boot. The top-of-the-collection Exodus incorporates an all-new carbon-fiber external highback with on-hill forward-lean adjustment and easy-walk mode.

In between is a women's-only model with unique adjustments for the female physiology, a mid-line do-it-all model with multiple fit-performance adjustments, and a powerful freeride model with support and security for the highest-speed big-mountain carving. Key models and sizes of Arcane step-ins are available for immediate dealer testing at on-snow events worldwide.

Additionally, rental test product is ready for in-store evaluation by rental accounts looking for speed, simplicity, and versatility in a complete boot-binding-board package. Last year's Arc 1 design has evolved into a three-model retail, plus one-model rental, collection that's lighter, smaller, and less expensive. In fact, the high-end Carbonara model is nearly 50-percent lighter than any Arcane model binding made to date with disk and baseplate built from carbon fiber.

The footprint size of all models is reduced by approximately 30 percent, while retaining full compatibility with all Arcane boots past and present. The signature Arcane rails have been shortened to allow significantly easier entry. Each model remains totally non-mechanical, with no moving parts–the patent-pending geometric boot interface does the work rather than springs, levers, and clamps that can make secure attachment problematic in some designs.

Boots

Every model of Arcane conventional boot is built around a proprietary combination last shape–wide in the forefoot and narrow in the heel and ankle area. Every model features new, close-fitting inner boot designs to minimize weight and bulk. And every model cushions and protects riders with a full-length contour-molded EVA midsole. These boots are easy to get into and provide multiple adjustments for effective closure and customizing.

A key performance benefit is superior rear-foot support delivered by the new spiral-wrapping cinch-it inner boot strap that gives the feel of an internal lace system without the hassle and awkwardness internal laces create.

The Cyclops II rental binding is specifically made to endure the abuse of hard use. But of equal importance is the ease of use for the shop and even for instructors on the hill. With a single five-mm Allen wrench, the binding can be adjusted in a matter of seconds for stance angle (through an infinite range), stance width variations of nearly three inches, and even toe-heel offset to fine-tune binding position for reduced boot drag.

The all-synthetic Sensory boot is available in a full range of men's and women's sizes. It's fully waterproof and uses closed-cell foam in the inner boot to minimize water absorption and speed drying. With integrated-highback support and a non-mechanical forward-lean adjustment capability, balances the needs of the shop and the rider. The Cyclops design eliminates any effect of sole wear on binding function.
