300 Executives To Attend Snow Industry Summit

Denver, CO, March 23, 2004…..The first Snow Industry Summit, a collaboration of all aspects of the snow sports industry spearheaded by SnowSports Industries America, Transworld Media and Mountain Sports, will take place April 1 — 4 at Copper Mountain Resort. The event is being sponsored by Copper Mountain, Coors beer and W.L. Gore and Associates. The event will bring together top executives from alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, in a unique environment designed to address marketing, sales and business issues facing the snow sports industry today and in the future.

“We are proud to be hosting such an outstanding array of industry professionals here in Colorado,” said Rob Perlman, president of Colorado Ski Country USA. “Colorado is considered the leader in the industry with 20% of all national skier visits coming from our state, it is only fitting that we should host the industry here in Colorado.”

Tom Campion, co-founder and chairman of the board of Zumiez, kicks off the Summit with a keynote presentation the evening of April 1. Other keynote and featured speakers include Melissa Johnson, executive director of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, Dan Gibbs, representative for Congressman Mark Udall (D-CO), Anne-Marie Luthro, director of research for Evinsell, J. Jason Mylar, investment banker for Advest, Steve Wilhite, vice president of marketing for Nisson and Frank Prince, president and founder of Unleash Your Mind.

Nine seminars and a speaker forum, moderated by SIA President David Ingemie, will examine marketing, sales and business issues relevant to the snow sports industry. Topics range from ways to reach the super hot women’s and children’s markets to the impact of rental demands on resorts, suppliers and retailers. Practical business principals that highlight merchandising tips and profit and loss statements promise to enlighten retailers, suppliers and resort personnel.

“The seminars on the agenda are unique in that they offer something for everyone whether you are a supplier, a retailer or a resort professional,’ commented Ingemie. “The agenda is structured so that all participants will have plenty of time to enjoy the snow and spring partying at Copper Mountain. We’re pleased to be hosting the Opening Night party and the resort is in the midst of its Sunsation celebration so Summit participants can be sure of great time. We encourage everyone to enjoy our slopes and trails here in Colorado.”
