Winter storm Hercules dropped epic amounts of snow in New Hampshire this week, but that didn’t stop Luke Mathison and the Waterville Valley, NH park crew from building a perfect park for over 70 of the top amateur snowboarders in the NH. These storm bravers made the treck out to Waterville to participate in the 1st stop of the 12th annual Transworld SNOWboarding TransAm event.

In the final round Christian Mandhard, who ended up in third place, and Tim Major who ended up in second place, slayed the High Cascade Snowboard Camp barrel, the Muscle Milk side wall/barrel, and the Giro wall ride feature. Their riding put them in contention to win the event, but Dennis Filteau claimed first place by staying focused and consistent on the Zumiez couch gap and the Analog A-frame rail.

Lauren Tamposi took first place and topped out Elin Totorice who ended up in second place, and Nora Healey, thrid place in an impressive battle that included the Anon Optics double rail and the Ride Snowboards Quarter to hitching post.

Congratulations to the top three guys and gals that qualified for the Transworld SNOWboarding TransAM Finals at Bear Mountain, CA on March 15, 2014. First placers Dennis Filteau & Lauren Tamposi walked away with flight vouchers to Finals courtesy of Zumiez, VIP treatment for the finals weekend on behalf of Transworld SNOWboarding, and snowboards from Ride. There was also the coveted TransAm trophy in the form the most bling chain necklace man has ever set eyes on!

All winners were loaded up with tons of awesome product including custom High Cascade backpacks, Anon goggles, Analog outerwear, Giro helmets, and Zumiez gift cards.  There were raffles galore and that famous Waterville TransAM pizza party to follow had competitors smiling all the way back down Route 49!

The prestigious Muscle Milk Riders’ Choice Award, as voted by the competitors, went to Dan McGonagle who was hooked up with an Amex giftcard and a custom backpack for his efforts.

$500 cold hard Zumiez cash for the Zumiez Best Trick Award went to Jeff Deforge for nailing a crisp 270 on 270 out on the Anon feature.

Special thanks to the Waterville Valley park crew and the TransAm sponsors for making stop 1 of the TransAM a huge success:  Ride Snowboards, Zumiez, Anon Optics, Analog, High Cascade Snowboard Camp, Muscle Milk and Giro.  See you in Big Boulder!
