Testing, Testing 1,2…
We brought the 14th annual TransWorldSNOWboardingGood Wood board test to Mt. Bachelor, Oregon for the first time from April 22–29, where we chopped down hundreds of snowboards to a choice 30. We had a solid group of 18 riders—James Jackson and the folks at Side Effect Snowboard Shop, a handful of Oregon homeys, plus the imports from Mammoth, Tahoe, and Salt Lake—who gave this year’s Good Wood the feel of just lapping the mountain with your friends. The Mt. Bachelor park staff kept everything dialed in, even with high nighttime temperatures that made grooming nearly impossible, and worked to pull off one of the smoothest board tests to date.
Each tester rode around seven boards a day and scored them according to 17 characteristics, from flex and pop to the feel of camber and sidecut styles. And they shredded the whole mountain— from the wide-open bowls at the top to the parks at the bottom; working the trees along the way. Add in a mixture of slush and a bit of pow over our six days of testing, and it’s safe to say we’ve got the most comprehensive board test in the industry.
