X Games 2016 Superpipe Finals Changed to One Run Final; Matt Ladley Wins

X Games Superpipe finals were changed to a one-run final due to ridiculous amounts of pow nuking down into the superpipe in Aspen, Colorado on Saturday night. The heavy, wet, snow wreaked havoc on the pipe that had been meticulously crafted by SPT. ESPN and the powers that be, pulled the plug on the rest of the contest and awarded X Games gold based on the riders’ first run.

Matt Ladley went the biggest and cleanest on his first run and snagged his first X Games Gold. Ben Ferguson and Scotty James rounded out the podium.

“It’s bullshit,” said Iouri Podladitchkov following the event. Iouri qualified second into the event and was expected to ride well, but ended up placing last in the one run format.

Mother Nature took center stage in tonight’s made-for-TV event, and while it sucks for the pipe contest, it’s going to be a hell of a pow day in Aspen tomorrow!
